Ethiopian Orthodox Church Ring Exchange Ceremony

👕 Attire: Ethiopian traditional, cultural, semi-formal or formal. Note: It is customary to remove shoes inside the church.
Ladies: Head covering (netela or simple scarf) is also customary during the ceremony portion in Ethiopian Orthodox tradition.

Ethiopian Orthodox Liturgy (in Geʽez)

Rooted in ancient Christian tradition, this service is celebrated in Geʽez, an ancient liturgical language dating back to the mid-1st millennium BC. Preserved through inscriptions and early Jewish and Christian texts, Geʽez continues to live on in the liturgy through sacred chants and rhythms inspired by Saint Yared, giving the ceremony a timeless and deeply spiritual character. Two monitor screens will be available to display real-time English translations of the liturgy for all guests.

Gospel Teaching (in English)

Following the liturgy, a short explanation or sermon will be shared in English, connecting the gospel to marriage, celebrating the newlyweds as they are joined before God, and briefly highlighting the key meanings of the liturgy performed during the ceremony.

9:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Brunch and Photoshoot

Join us for a joyful celebration with family and friends, featuring a delicious spread of Ethiopian and American breakfast cuisine.

Day Two

Wedding Reception

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Cocktails & Photography Session

Guests are invited to go outdoors to the garden for a meet and greet and photo session with the bride and groom while enjoying cocktails and other refreshments.

Wedding Dinner Reception
